As their children grow, life becomes an amazing adventure for the four friends. And when Cady wants a night off from mom-hood to celebrate her 40th birthday with her bff, Grace, the guys are left in charge. After all, looking after two tiny toddlers – how hard can it be?

But surely you can’t expect a pregnant woman to follow a vegan diet? That can’t be healthy.”
Well, I’m not exactly fading away,” Vince grinned, patting his eight-pack stomach. “But Gracie can eat coal if that’s what she fancies. Me mam said she ate coal when she was pregnant with me—probably why I’ve got many rocks in my head.”
Mom stared uncertainly, so Dad picked up the reins.
A pregnant woman needs iron—meat—to grow a baby. I can’t understand this non-meat diet. Are you going to bring your baby up as a vegan?”
Vince scratched his head. “We haven’t discussed that, but he’ll probably be duel-fuel, you know, what’s the word … bisexual.”
Dad chocked on his beer, and Mom took a sharp intake of breath.
“I think Vince means ‘omnivore’,” I said, tring not to laugh at my parents’ stunned expressions.
“Yeah, right,” smiled Vince. “The nipper can eat whatever he wants and decide for himself.” He shrugged. “But I can only cook vegan, so it’ll depend whether his mum or me is doing chef duty.”
Mom looked slightly mollified. “You intend to share childcare so Grace can continue to work if she wants to?”
Vincent’s eyebrows shot up. “Share? Well, I suppose I could share if I had to, but I guess I’ll let Gracie have a turn sometimes. Stinky nappies don’t worry me. I’ve got three dogs and one of them’s the size of Dwayne Johnson. That’s a lot of shit to shovel any day of the week. Nah, I’m not bothered.” He took my hand and smiled at me. “I’m looking forward to every crappy nappy and barfy baby-day this kid can throw at us. I don’t want to miss a second of it.”
Mom melted into a puddle on the spot, Vince’s unique charm saving the day from a certain disaster once again. Even Dad was hiding a smile under his moustache.
“I fart a lot myself,” Vince continued. “It’s the beans. Can’t help it. A kid’s farts are nothing compared to mine.”
I closed my eyes. If only he’d learn when to stop talking.
